On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, an international symposium entitled "The Impact of Climate Change on Shrimp Health and Aquaculture" was held at the Shinagawa Campus.
This symposium was planned as part of the JST e-ASIA SICORP project and a top-down project at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Approximately 30 people from both inside and outside the university participated on the day, and there was lively information sharing about sustainable aquaculture production and the protection of marine ecosystems in the face of climate change.
During the lectures, Dr. Mary Beth B. Maningas of the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines gave a presentation on the development of diagnostic and therapeutic methods, and Dr. Kunlaya Somboonwiwat of Chulalongkorn University in Thailand shared the latest findings on heat stress and shrimp immunity. Dr. Ryosuke Omori of Hokkaido University also gave a lecture on a new approach to disease management using mathematical modeling.
The Q&A session after the lecture was a great success, with many questions from the participants. Thank you very much to everyone who participated.
