TUMSAT team participated in the First International University Dragon Boat Tournament at Shanghai, China (2018/9/23)

On September 23, 2018, the First International University Dragon Boat Tournament was held at Shanghai, China. By invitation of Shanghai Ocean University, a team consisting of TUMSAT students and faculty members participated in the Tournament. This Tournament was held for the first time aiming at cultural exchanges among ocean universities in the world. Besides TUMSAT and Shanghai Ocean University, universities from Portugal, Malaysia, and some universities in China participated, and total 11 teams and about 200 participants enjoyed the event.

The members of the team TUMSAT were 12 students from the student associations "Cutter Club (Shinagawa Campus)", "Women's Cutter Club", and "Mokuyo-Kai", and 2 faculty members, Dr. Keiichi Uchida, Associate Professor, Dept. of Marine Resource and Energy, and Advisor of the Cutter Club, and Dr. Hitoi Tamaru, Associate Professor, Dept. of Marine System Engineering, and Advisor of the Mokuyo-Kai. They participated in the 4-day events including the pre-game training and cultural exchange activities.

200-meter and 500-meter Straight Races were held. Students from TUMSAT enjoyed interaction with many international students from other countries, and the event was the meaningful and fruitful opportunity for them.
