Joint Mini-Symposium on Food Hydrocolloids between TUMSAT and USC 2018 was held at University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu, Philippines.

Dr. Shingo Matsukawa, Professor, Department of Food Science Technology, and other faculty staff and students visited University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu, Philippines, by the support of "TUMSAT International Collaboration Program for Promoting Exchanges with International Partner Institutions", under the Global Education and Research Committee. Here is the report from Dr. Matsukawa.

【Objectives】 

In the symposium, researchers and students from both universities gave presentations about
Food Hydrocolloids. Additionally, the content for a project to apply JSPS program, which is based on a collaborative research between TUMSAT and USC, was discussed.

【Summary・Outcomes】 

 Prof. Matsukawa, Assist. Prof. Takahashi, and two graduate students from Department of Food Science and Technology participated in Joint Mini-Symposium on Food Hydrocolloids between TUMSAT and USC 2018 held at San Carlos, Cebu, Philippine on August 7th, 2018. A lot of researchers and students from USC also joined the symposium. In a meeting after the symposium, an active discussion was held for further promotion of joint researches and exchange programs between TUMSAT and USC. This activity was supported by "TUMSAT International Collaboration Program for Promoting Exchanges with International Partner Institutions".

【Expected effects】

 The Joint Mini-Symposium enabled the participants to discuss sufficiently on application for the JSPS's bilateral program, aiming at promotion of further collaborative researches and exchange programs. Upon the adoption of JSPS program, further collaboration between TUMSAT and USC is highly expected
