Changes to the email system
To accompany the renewal of the Information Processing Center system, the email system for students will be changed. Details of the changes are provided below.
Schedule for the renewal of the email system
March 6th (Sun) 9:00-21:00
Within this period email cannot be sent or received through the email system.
Depending on the conditions of the operation, the period for renewal may change.
After the renewal of the email system, the email system for students will change to Google Apps for Education. Together with that, the email domain will change from kaiyodai.ac.jp to edu.kaiyodai.ac.jp. IDs will not change, so email addresses will change from the current ID@kaiyodai.ac.jp format to ID@edu.kaiyodai.ac.jp. In addition, after the renewal on March 6th, email which is sent to the old email addresswa will be automatically forwarded to new email addresses, so it is possible to check these emails through the new email system. However, data in the old email system will not be transferred, so we ask all students to please be sure to save or forward any necessary data by March 5th, the day before the renewal of the email system.
Web email can be used even outside of the school by accessing the following address.
While the method for using the system is the same as regular Gmail, there are portions which differ. More details will be provided at a later date on the center's homepage on how to use the system.
Email server settings
For email server settings when using email software, please look at the ID notification which contains the new password.
For how to use email software, please refer to the manual of the email software used.
Limitations for the format of attached files
Taking into account the recent strict conditions in regards to information security, settings have been specified to prohibit the attachment of executable files. We ask for your understanding in this matter.
Along with the move to the new system, all users will be required to update their passwords in order to adopt a more secure security method compared with the encrypted password method used in the current system. An ID notification which contains new passwords has already been distributed, however if you have not yet received this notification it can be sent to you through the below points of contact.
Point of contact: Education Affairs Section General Business Manager
Point of contact: Etchujima District Office School Affairs Manager
- Distribution is not carried out via email or fax. Please be sure to collect the notification yourself.
- At the time of collecting the notification, please be sure to provide your student card or an item which provides evidence of your name.
