Job Hunting Tips

就職活動の際には、以下の事項が求められます。
Be sure to keep the following in mind while conductiong your job search:

1. 日本語が堪能であり、職場において日本語で円滑なコミュニケーションが図れること
   You should be fluent in Japanese and be capable of comfortably communicating in Japanese in the workplace.
2. 日本の文化・慣習を深く理解し、他の社員との協調や協力が図れること。
   You should have solid understanding of Japanese culture and customs and be able to collaborate and cooperate with other employees.
3. 社員の教育研修やOJTなどによって自己成長が期待できる人材であること。
   You should expect to engage in self-development efforts through employee education and OJT.
4. 日本人学生と同様にエントリーシート、履歴書に説得力のある自己ＰＲと志望動機が書かれていること。
   In Japanese, you should be able to: complete a job application, promote yourself, and provide reasons for applying for the job on your resume.

Looking for Companies That Hire International Students

日本には、どのような仕事があるのか。それを知り、日本ビジネス社会がどのような業界によって成立しているか。まずは自分の関心ある業界から研究をはじめてください。

First,you should know types of jobs that exist in Japan. Following this, you should posess an understanding of what industries comprise Japanese business society. Please research the industry that most interests you.

求人情報の探し方
How to get job offer information

大学に寄せられる求人、就職情報サイト、合同企業セミナー（ほとんどが留学生と日本人を区別せずに行われますが、留学生だけを対象としたセミナーもあります）などで、できるだけたくさんの企業情報を見つけることが、就職への近道となります。

In order to obtain comprehensive company information, use the following resources,
1) The career suppot division
2) Job hunting websites
3）On-Campus Company Information Sessions　*

* As some On-Campus Company Information Sessions are only held for International students,it is advantageous for international students to attend these sessions.

Japanese companies are looking for international students with following qualities.

1. 元気、明るい、自主的に動ける。将来のビジョンがある。
   Energetic, cheerful with a clear vision of your future
2. 国籍に関係なく優秀な人材
   Highly skilled regardless of nationality

多くの企業は、日本人と外国人留学生を区別せず採用試験を実施しています。
Most of companies do not distinguish international students from Japanese students during the employment process. They tend to choose the most capable candidate regardless of nationality

3. 事業の国際化に資するため、職務上、外国語を話せる。
   Multilingual at a business communication level in order to promote international business
4. 技術力の高さ、国際的視野、ハングリー精神
   Technologically capable, possessing a global view point, and motivated spirit

東京外国人雇用サービスセンターでは、留学生のインターンシップ生を募集しています。
センターに登録したインターンシップ参加企業と留学生のマッチングを行っています。

継続して就職活動を行う場合は
Job Hunting after graduation

大学等を卒業時点で就職活動を行ったが就職が決まらず、引き続き日本で就職を希望する学生は、在留資格「特定活動（就活）」の変更申請を行うことができます。

If you could not find a work even after graduation, you can apply for a " designated activities "visa to continue your job hunt.

「特定活動（就活）」ビザとは
Details of visa" Designated Activities"

*在留期間：６か月
Period of stay: 6 months

*１回に限り更新可能
One-time-only renewable

*就労できない在留資格であるが、アルバイト就労の希望がある場合は再度資格外活動許可の申請が必要
You can not continue working a part time job after obtaining a "Designated activities" Visa.
It is necessary to regain permission in order to engage in activities other than those permitted under your previously granted status of residence.

特定活動（就活）の申請書類等
Necessary Documents

• 在留資格変更許可申請
  application for changing your status of residence
• 申請手数料　4,000円
  Fee　4,000　Yen
• パスポート・在留カード
  Passport and Residence card
• 在留中の経費の支弁を証明できる資料（通帳等）
  Documents that prove you can afford your daily expenses during stay
• 卒業証明書（大学）
  Certification of graduation
• 大学からの推薦状*
  Recommendation letter from your university
• 継続して就職活動を行っていることを明らかにする書類（ハローワークカード*、就職活動記録、選考結果通知書）
  Documents that can prove the continuation of your job hunt（ex. Hello work card*,　records of job hunt, notices of the status of your employment process etc.)

* 大学からの推薦状は、キャリア支援センターにて発行致します。
Recommendation letter is to be issued in the Student Career Support division　

**原則、ハローワークカードの新規発行は、在学中に限られます。
In principle, issuing a hello work card is limited during university students.
