　令和8年7月15日、国際海事大学連合（IAMU：International Association of Maritime Universities）主催の若手教員フォーラムに参加するため、世界各国から来日したIAMU加盟大学の若手教員約36名とファシリテーター等8名、計44名が、テクニカルツアーの一環として本学越中島キャンパスを訪問しました。

　IAMUは、世界の主要な海事大学が加盟する国際的なネットワークです。今回の訪問には、ヨーロッパ、アジア、オセアニアなど世界約26か国から、次世代を担う若手教員が参加しました。

　当日は、海洋電子機械工学部門の米田昇平准教授の研究室および海事システム工学部門の笹原裕太郎助教の実験設備を見学しました。参加者からは、同じ海事系研究機関に所属する専門家ならではの具体的な質問が相次ぎ、活発な質疑応答が行われました。また、本学における海事教育の取組についても紹介しました。

　本学は今後も、海外機関とのパートナーシップをさらに深め、世界の海事教育および研究の発展に貢献してまいります。

Early Career Academic Staff from IAMU Member Universities Visit Etchujima Campus as Part of Technical Tour

On July 15, 2026, approximately 36 early career faculty staff from IAMU member universities around the world, together with eight facilitators and staff members, visited Etchujima Campus as part of a technical tour held in conjunction with the Early Career Academic Forum organized by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU).

IAMU is an international network of leading maritime universities worldwide. The visit brought together early career academic staff who will help lead the next generation of maritime education and research, representing approximately 26 countries across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and other regions.

During the visit, the group toured the laboratory of Associate Professor Shohei Komeda of the Department of Marine Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the experimental facilities of Assistant Professor Yutaro Sasahara of the Department of Maritime Systems Engineering.
Participants raised a number of highly specialized questions reflecting their expertise as professionals at maritime universities, leading to a lively and engaging discussion. Initiatives in maritime education were also introduced.

Going forward, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology will continue to strengthen its partnerships with overseas institutions and contribute to the advancement of maritime education and research worldwide.
