JABEE certification

Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology's predecessor, the Faculty of Fisheries, Tokyo University of Fisheries, applied to the Japan Accreditation Board for Engineer Education (JABEE) to establish a fisheries program, and in 2004, it became the first program in a field related to general agriculture to receive accreditation.

The Faculty of Marine Science, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, which inherited the Faculty of Fisheries of Tokyo University of Fisheries through university integration, received continued JABEE accreditation on May 2008, 5. (Department of Food Production Science, Department of Ocean Policy and Culture) All of these certifications were unprecedented at the time and demonstrate the high level of education of our faculty.

The Faculty of Marine Life Sciences and Faculty of Marine Resources and Environment, which were renamed and established in 2017, were also certified in the 2018 certification examination as successor programs to the Faculty of Marine Science.

Those who have completed the JABEE certification will be exempted from the first examination for professional engineers, and will be closer to becoming a professional engineer. In addition, JABEE joined the Washington Accord, an international education organization, in 2005, giving those certified a wide range of opportunities to work globally.
