 With this change, we will secure a longer summer vacation period than before, improve the academic aspect of off-campus studies (study abroad, regional study abroad, mid- to long-term internships, volunteer activities, summer school, etc.) It is possible to develop various classes such as learning, and it will support your independent learning.

 On the other hand, the start and end times of classes will be changed, which is expected to have an impact on academics and student life. We ask that all students understand this purpose and cooperate with us to ensure smoother class operations.


 From April 2024, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) will start Four-Semester System (Quarter System) in which class time per period will be changed from 90 minutes to 105 minutes, and the First semester will be divided into First and Second quarters, and the Second semester into Third and Fourth quarters.

 This change will allow for a longer summer break than the current system, improving off-campus study (study abroad, study in regional area, mid- to long-term internships, volunteer activities, summer school, etc.), and enable a variety of classes, such as active learning using the expanded class time, thereby encouraging independent learnings.

 On the other hand, the starting and the ending time of classes will be changed, which may affect your study activities and the private student life. We would like to request all students to understand the purpose and to cooperate with the smooth operation of classes.
